WANDERERS’ FOOTBALL CLUB.

ANNUAL'MEETING

The annual meeting of the W anderers’ Football Club was held last evening. The President (Mr 3. W. Procter) was in the chair and there was an attendance of over 20 members. REPORT AND BALANCE SHEET

The balance-sheet; showed receipts totalling £O2 4/4, and expenditure £9l 9'3, leaving a. credit of 15/1. Against this was an outstanding account, for 15/. v

The report stated the past season was a very successful one on the held for the senior team. It was successful in winning the Suhan Cup for the second time in succession In which case the Club had won the trophy outright. During the season the team was en twice and drew on two other oc-"

casions its defeats being by Hui Mai and Kuku. The' drawn games were with Shannon and Hui Mai. Its performances through the season were .very creditable as the points scored totalled 115 compared with 25 points scored against, The junior team was not so successful. Considerable trou-

ble was experienced in getting a team together. Eventually a team was formed and although they commenced the season with two victories in succession, they did not do so well for the rest of the season. The committee suggests that had more encouragement been given the young players the re-

sults of the team’s .efforts would have beer, 'more satisfactory. The Club was again honoured by the inclusion of one of its members, H. Jacob, in the North Island representative team. He was also chosen, together with another player, Rang! Broughton, in the Maori team which played the Springboks. The former player, however, was unable to make the trip. It was satisfactory to note that the standard

of football had not depreciated with the Club as nine players represented Horowhenua in the representative matches, and out of seven players selected from Horowhenua to play m the Manawatu-fJorowhenua combined team against thei Springboks, four belonged to the Wanderers’ Club, namely H. Jacob, R. Ford, R. T. McDonald and IL Broughton, and their play was very creditable. After referring to the Club dances held during the year, mention was made of Mrs Procter’s services, which greatly assisted in Ilie success of these functions. The following senior players won medals during the season: Mr E. A. Stuart’s medal for the best back, R. T. McDonald; Mr

M. J. Suhan’s medal for best forward, H. Jacob; Mr W. Williams’s .medal for most improved forward, R. Broughton; Mr F. S. Procter’s medal for the most improved back, T. Winiata. The winners of the medals presented to the juniors were the following: Mr J. W. Procter’s medal for best back, R. Williams; Mr W. Tantrum’s medal for best forward, L. Melville; and Mr W. Crystall’s medal for most improved player, C. Wildsinith. . The committee extended/its thanks to all those who kindly assisted to place the Club An its present position and expressed the hope that the season 1922 would prove as successful as 1921. Mr J. Bebbington thought the Club could congratulate, itself on coming out with a credit as last season it had a debit of £ls or £l6, but was now clear of debt.

This was supported by the chairman, who said the Club had a somewhat strenuous year, but had come out on a sound basis and now had no financial liabilities.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted on the motion of the chairman.
