SERIES OF TRAP ACCIDENTS.

MINOR . INJURIES CAUSED.

1 Quite a chapter of trap accidents have occurred in Shannon lately, but fortunately with no very serious results. Messrs. Ashwin, Grey and Exton were driving home from work lan week when the axle of the trap Messrs. Ashwin and Exton were thrown heavily on to the road, each receiving a sprained wrist, minor cuts and a severe shaking. Mr Grey landed on his feet and held the reins for a time, hut the horse managed to get away, upsetting the trap and smashing it up generally. On the same day Mi\ Coakley left his horse and cart, the latter laden with fruit and vegetables, on the road at the bottom camp. The horse by some means backed ovdr the bank and went into the gully, the fruit be 4 ing scattered. It required six men to get the damaged vehicle on to the road again.

Thd following day Mr Tippler’s horse, attached to his bread cart, bolted and upset the cart, scattering the bread and breaking the shafts. Following this, on Saturday last a meat van owned by Mr S. Bowen capsized at Makerua, owing to the radius rod of the car breaking, 'but fortunately it occurred on a level part of the road, and little damage was done.
