THEFT OF A LAMP
Joseph Williams, a native, pleaded guilty to having stolen a gig lamp valued at 15/, the property of John Procter. Constable Bagrie stated that the lamp was taken from the fable where accused had been seen about. On being interviewed he had admitted taking the lamp and said he intended to return it. He had never been before the Court before, but this charge was a somewhat serious one in that, small things were often missed in this manner /from people’s vehicles and were hard to locate. The Magistrate imposed a fine of £2, with costs 7/. CLAIM FOR WAGES FAILS, Reserved decision was delivered in a case heard the previous Court, day in which David William McLuskie, shop assistant, claimed the sum of £44 from Otto Koberstein, mercer, on the grounds that he had been engaged for 12 months but had been dismissed before the expiration of that term, and had been unemployed for eight weeks. Mr Stout held that as there was no agreement in’ writing the plaintiff would have to be nonsuited, with costs according to scale. In any case he was not satisfied that there was a year’s engagement, WANDERING STOCK CASES.
For having allowed stock to wander on the roads at /Shannon, she following defendants were lined as under: Ronald Hayes £l, Samuel Anderson 10/, Walter V. Brown 10/, James Curran 5/, William Gardner 10/ (on each of two charges) and £1 and £2 respectively on another two charges, Eugene Coakley * 10/ (on each of. three charges), James Astwood 10/, Clifford O’Regan 10/ (on each of three charges), L. H. Newport 10/ on each of two charges and £1 on another, G. Hutton 10/, David Murray 10/, James McDonald 10/, Reginald Tippler £l, Frederick Johnson £l, Frederick Johnson 10/, Robert Buckman £1 on one charge and 10/ on another, James Richardson iO/, William Davis 10/, Mortimer Tipplei 5/, Norman Gill 5/, William Gardner 5/, Patrick Gill 5/, Clifford O’Regan 5/, I. M. Foster 5/, James McDonald 5/, S. W. Carter 5/.
In each of the above cases court costs amounting to 7/ were ordered to be paid by the defendants concerned.
TERR ITORIALS FINED. A hatch of territorials and senior cadets were brought before the Court by the Area Sergeant-Major anu charged with having not attended certain parades. The following penalties were inflicted; Reginald Collier, George Desmond Crabb. Arthur George Keilian 10/ and 7/ costs. Jack Graham, Henry Groonte, Malcolm Jack Randall, Robert Henderson, Thomas Ronald Hewitt, costs 7/. George Desmond Crabb was also mulcted in the sum of 10/ and 7/ costs for having failed to deliver portions of his uniform on demand. JUDGMENTS BY DEFAULT.

JUDGMENT .SUMMONSES
J. Hurunui was ordered to pay £i 17/ to Henry J. Neiisen forthwith, in delauit seven days’ jinprisonmenl, the order to be suspended SO' long as debtor pays 10/ per monlb. First payment is to be made by April 16.
Joe Ropata was ordered to pay £1 per month to Harvey and Co. in extinction of a debt of £2B 16/6, in default 28 days’ imprisonment. Romeo Kingi was given the alternative of paying 10/ per month to A. G. Donald in extinction of a debt of £6 16/6, or going to gaol for seven days.
