SIX-ROOMED HOUSE DESTROYED

A six-roomed house and the .contents, owned and occupied by Mr J. Purcell, in Patrick Street, was totally] destroyed by fire yesterday aiternoon.tj The cause of the outbreak is thought] to have been a defective chimney. This is the third outbreak since Sun-1 day. The other two fires were in aj
two-roomed cottage and p lean-t store at the seaside.
At an early hour on Sunday morn' ing a small lean-to structure used as a shop, situate at- the Foxton sea-side) and owned by Mr Perreau, togethei with the contents, was totally de .stroyed by fire. The building had re ceritly been erected to replace one de stroyed by fire on December 23 on thJ same site, was insured for £2, and thj stock for £75. Mr Perreau value! the building at £6O and the stock oj £l3O. Mr Perreau is of Ilie opinion that the building was entered ml fired from within. I
■ Mr Perreau seems to be selected for victimisation by the “fill bug” (says the Herald) as this is tn fourth fire which has iallen to his lo About two years ago a fire broke ou in his business premises in Mail Street, which were totally destroyed together with adjacent buildipgj About six months ago his businej premises at the seaside were destrol ed by fire and this was followed U the fire in December last, which im stroyed a small building, replaced j the one destroyed by fire on Sundl morning. Fortunately in each 1 stance Mr Perreau’s losses were cd| ered by insurance, but in each c?a he estimates his loss at consideratl above the insurances. The outbreak in each case point rather to incendi* ism than accident.
