BEACH CARNIVAL AT OTAKI.

SEVENTY COMPETITORS FROM WELLINGTON. Matters are progressing most satisfactorily for the grand carnival at the Otaki beach on Saturday. Island Bay, Lyall Bay and Worser Bay are each sending a team of eight men. Maranui is sending two teams, and there is a chance of getting a ladies’ team to compete. Paekakariki is making an effort to be represented, and will be if the railwaymen can get off for the day. There will be fully 70 competitors from Wellington Mr Duffy, of the Royal Life Saving Society, has been appointed judge of the life-saving -events.

A contingent of Levin propose visiting Otaki on Saturday.

The Otaki Band will be present on Saturday, and will assist in the on poyment and success of the gathering with a programme of music.
