MOUTOA SCHOOL PICNIC.

Fine weather prevailed at Moutoa for the annual school picnic, which was held last Saturday in Mr Carter’s paddock. There was a large attendance of parents and friends, who spent a pleasant day playing games and watching the programme of races being run off by the children. Nice presents were given to the winners of the’events, and,in add;lion to this every child attending the school was awarded a book, whilst all not of school age were given something to commemorate the day. - The' distribution was made by Mr Galland, the late headmaster, who also gave out the special prizes lot meritorious work and good 'attendance during the yean. Ike gold medal, donated by Mr C. Robert, of Palmerston North, for the dux of the school, was won by Thomas Spring, who, among others, gained proficiency last year. At the close of the day, Mr Kelly, chairman of the School Committee, delivered a happy speech, in which he eulogised the work done by the pupils and teachers,, and also thanked all those who had helped in so many ways to make the gathering such a pronounced success.
