THE MANGAHAO TUNNELS.

WORK STILL AT A STANDSTILL.

The tunnellers’ strike is still in progress, it being just a month since .work ceased. The time has not been altogether wasted, as full use has been made of the opportunity to push on with concreting work. In the meantime tenders have been called for ;ne carrying out of the tunnelling by cooperative contract by parties of workers. These tenders were to close today, and it is expected that tunnelling will shortly be in lull progress again. It is stated that a large number-of tenders have been put in for the various contracts offered.
