VACANCIES FOR ALL INSTRU-
MENU'S
On .January 17, several musical resident of Shannon met together to discuss the possibilities of forming an orchestra. It was decided to give it a trial. As the outcome of several practices held -during the last month, a further meeting was held on February 17, and it was decided to carry on. There are several vacancies .among all instruments. " - The following officers have been President., Mr W. Quarrie;. secretary and treasurer, Mr H. HooK; librarian, Mr H. Graham; musical director, Mr H. G. Leng-Ward. At the present moment the orchestra is composed oi the tollowing: Violins, Messrs. Meiwood (leader), Hook and Miller; ’cello, Mr Prouse; flutes, Messrs. Quarrie and R. Moynihan; cornet, Mr Graham; trombone, Mr Parkhouse; piano, Mr L. Simpson; drums, Mr Olsen.
The object of the orchestra is to provide music lor those interested iu concerted instrumental playing, and also for dances and concerts. By kind permission of Mrs Rawhusoa, practices are held in- the boardinghouse oh Tuesdays and Fridays, from 8 to 10 p.m. Those who are interested, or who would care to join, are requested . o write to the secretary.
In the interests of ail concerned', it was decided at both meetings that only members should be allowed to be present at practices. No deviation from this rule will be permitted whatever.
