SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING.

ARRANGEMENTS for the picnic

The Shannon School Committee meeting 1 was held in the schoolroom last Monday. All members were present ,and the head teacher, Mr Voysey, was also present. Mr J. W. Murray presided, and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The principal business of the evening was in connection with the school picnic to Piimmerton. The secretary reported having received the time-table and schedule of fares. The outward train will leave Tokomaru at 7.10 a.iu. and Shannon at 7.z7 a.m. Tfie return train will leave Piimmerton at 4.30 p.m. and arrive Shannon 7.9 p.m., and ToKomaru 7.25 p.m.

The fares will be.as follows: From Tokomaru —Senior scholars and teachers 2/6, adults, 3/9; from Shannonsenior scholars and teachers, 2/6, adults 3/6, All tickets will be sold on the train only. Correspondence was received from Mr A. Seifert enclosing a donation of £5 towards the picnic fund, and stating the Miranui mill will be closed on February 25, so as to enable every- , body to attend the excursion.—This was received with thanks. A donation of £1 was also kindly sent forward byvMr J. T. Bovis.— Accepted with thanks, and the secretary directed .to write thanking both donors on behalf of the Committee.

The picture -entertainment proved successful, although the proceeds leii considerably short of last- year, probably owing to the bad season experienced in the flax Industry, or owing ,to the subscription lists being out at dhe same time, which was unavoidable owing to the change of management oi me Maoriland Theatre.
