VALEDICTORY.
FAREWELL, TO MR AND MRS GALLAND. A large and representative gathering assembled in the Mouioa Schovd on Friday night to bid fare well to Mr and Mrs Galland, who- are leaving tin district tb take up their residence at Newbury, Mr Galland having Urn transferred to the school in that district. A very pleasant social evening was spent, though the proceedings were tinged with regret, at the prospect of losing residents who have identified* themselves so with local affairs during a long residence in Moutoa.
Eulogistic speeches were made by the chairman (Mr .Jas. Kelly), Messrs. F. Shaw and W. Bowe, and reference was made to the character of and good works done by the guests, both for the children and the district. The chairman, on behalf of the residents, then presented Mr and Mrs Galland with a travelling rug and eider-down quilt, and wished them the best of health and prosperity :n thenfuture sphere.
Mr Galland feelingly responded. During the evening vocal items were rendered by Mesdames Hail and Pavey and Miss Upton, and tiie music was supplied by Mesdames Davey and Hally and Miss Butler. ,
