THE HOROWHENUA SHOW.

— i -4OPENING TO-MORROW The annual show of the Horowhenua A. and P. Association opens tomorrow, and present indications point to it being as successful as any of its predecessors. The cattle, sheep, pig, horse and competition sections have filled well, and the entries in these classes should make a fine display. There is no doubt that the excellent programme of competitions is one of the main features of the show, and the variety of the events as well as the high grade competition they produce lend a feature to the gathering that, is more of the nature of a holiday (fixture or sports meeting, and provides ample entertainment for delighted spectators. The events in-

elude driving and walking competitions, pony and trotting races, apple races, hunters’ competitions, sheep dog trials, etc.—a programme that is not excelled anywhere. The Jersey and; dairy sections in cattle is considered to be the best yet entered at the local show, whilst the other cattle classes, pigs and sheep are also good. There appears to be a boom in sideshows this year, and a record number will b? present. Some of them are entirely new, and should afford plenty of amusement for young and old. The Levin Brass Band will be present both days, and help to enliven the proceedings. The only Uncertain' quantity is the weather, but at time of writing the signs look promising, and it is the ' general wish that Old Sol will shine brightly on the sixteenth annual show. This is the only thing wanting to achieve complete success. ‘ .
