To act in conjunction with the Parliamentary Committee, a committee of fourteen—seven from the North Island and seven from the South Island—was appointed by the conference, the duties of the two committees being to -appoint a New Zealand board and a board at the other end to control the scheme, and to carry on till the New Zealand board was set up. The names of the Conference Committee are as under: North Island—Messrs. W. J. Poison, J. S. Jessop, Wm. Perry, T. A. Duncan, H. B. Williams, George Pearce and A. E. Harding. South Island— Messrs. J.
