THE LEVIN MARKET.
A SMALL SALE. There was only a small yarding at Levin sale Tuesday, pigs being perhaps the- most numerous section. There was no improvement on the low values of last week, porkers being quitted from 26/ to £2 1/, stores 14/- 40 £l, and weaners 4/ to 15/, with the market not very animated. Sucking pigs for Christmas sold up to 10/. Sheep were only a small section. The yarding more than met buyers’ requirements, and • business was very slack, only a few lines changing hands. Fat cows went as low as 34/ for a Jersey, to £2 11/, good forward bullocks'td £4 3/, and 2-year steers 36/. A good lot of veaiers were forward, but Jhere, was no demand. All the young dairy heifers sold, yearlings from 15/ to 26/, and to £5 10/ v for Jerseys. The entry of dairy cows was-small, a few; sales being made at from £3 to £B. Pigs.—Suckers 9/ to 10/, weaners 4/ to 7/6, 12/6 and 15/; stores 14/ to 17/8 and £1; porkers 26/ to 31/, 35/ and £2 1/; sow to farrow 37/. Sheep—Mixed 2-tooths 6/7 to 8/5. Cattle. —Good forward bullocks £4 3/, fat cows 34/ (Jersey) to £2 11/, forward heifers 32/, forward cows 32/6, two-year steers 36/, veaiers 12/6, store cows 15/ to £l, bulls up to £2 10/, dairy cows7£3, £4 10/ to £B, weaner heifers 7/6, others from 15/ to 26/.to £5 10/ for good Jerseys.
