The public health depart* MENT advises the Council that every precaution is being taken to prevent Bubonic Plague reaching this country. It is pointed out that rats are a great source of danger in this respect, and the co-operation of the public in the work, of rat destruction is earnestly solicited. The CounciMherefore respectfully asks that all settlers-of the Horowhenua County will use their best endeavours to cope with the rat., menace by the careful removal of all refuse likely to harbour-rats, an! by the use of all available means for their destruction.
