KENNEDY ASHORE.

DRIVEN ON BEACH AT FOXTON. The s.s. Kennedy, with a general cargo, including 1500 cases of oil, from Wellington,. while endeavouring to make Foxton har inwards on Tuesday morning against a' still southerly breeze, was driven on to the north beach about half a mile from the river mouth. Mr Signal, the pilot, proceeded to the vessel in the afternoon, and will take the necessary steps to safeguard the vessel prio'r to attempts being made to refloat her. NO DAMAGE SUSTAINED. A telephonic message from Foxton to the News yesterday states that the Kennedy is lying in tire same positton as when she struck, but her position was quite safe and no damage had been done. The vessel had sustained' no structural injury, and was malting no water. The captain and crew were still' aboard. It was expected that a line would be run out from the } vessel to-day, when an endeavour would be made to warp her off on the top of high water, with every prospect of success.

THE STEAMER REFLOATED

The Kennedy' was successfully refloated this morning and is now standing off shore. The vessel has apparently suffered no damage and is not registering any unusual quantity cf water in the wells.
