The beetle of the wood-borer appears between now and Christmas. Anyone who has this in their house should watch within about five or six feet of where there are holes. They will see the black beetles, which are about the size of a small they are easily killed. They have wings, and some of them fly a little, but speaking generally' they do not move far from the holes from which they emerge. Any timber that has holes in it should be freely washed with kerosene. If a strict watch for beetles is kept, and kerosene is used half a dozen times, it is almost certain that the borer will be eradicated from that particular part..
