FIRST ROUND OF TRIANGULAR SHIELD. The first round of the Triangular Shield contests between the Shannon, Foxton and Levin Clubs, postponed from Wednesday last on account of wet weather, was plaved yesterday afternoon on the Levin green. -The weather was perfect and the green :n first-class condition, and an enjoyable afternoon's play followed. Levin, being the home club, played four rinks, and Shannon and Foxton two each, but on the aggregate Levin scored % against their opponents' 70. The home club entertained the players at. afternoon tea, which added to the pleasure of the outing. Following arc the" scores:Levin; Wilson, Reading, Harris, Pollock (s)—26, v. Foxton: Rore, Huntly, Christie, Walker (s)—6. Levin: Pink, Lancaster, Channings, Clements, jr. (s)—ls, v. Shannon:. E. Spencer, B. Spencer, Murphy, Fargher (s)-26. Levin: Clements, sen., Ryder, Bull, Pyke (s)—3s, v. Foxton: Ross, Pearson, Whibley, Whibley (s)— 18. Levin: Roe, Brown, Percy, Rankin (s)—2o, v. Shannon: Carr, Clayton, McKegg, Roach (s)—2o. Aggregates: Levin 96, Foxton and Shannon 70. The second round of this competition will be r-layed at Foxton on Wednesday, December 21.

The first round of the Manawatu Centre Banner Competition will be played at Shannon next Wednesday between the Foxton and Shannon clubs. Five rounds will be played altogether in the competition. Shannon contemplates sending a rink to Otaki next Wednesday to play for the Kinneburgh feathers. A ladder competition for Wednesday and Saturday players is being played by the Shannon Club for -the Spencer Pin. So far Carter has beaten Franks and Mitchell, and is at the top of the Saturday ladder. Great interest is being manifested m the club- this season, which promises to be one of the most successful in in the history of the game locally.
