UHI nUt.lv pninnii r - ♦ I The Bazaar in connection* with the ! Catholic Church opened last evening ; in the Maorilaud Theatre, there being a big crowd present. The, various stalls were well laden with manj choice articles of beauty and value, the product of the ladies’ labours dur ing the past months. The Children’s Stall, in change of Mesdames Gill, Butler and Parkhouse, Misses Ryan and Butler, was particularly well supplied. The proceeds from, this go to swell the votes of Miss Winnie Fitzgerald in the Queen Carnival. The Fibre Stall, in charge of Mrs Kersey, Misses Greedy, K. Curran, T. Keir and K. Hayden, made a. fine showing, the walls of the stall being composed with green flax, trimmed with dressed fibre. Miss Curran wav adding many votes to her credit by the a,id of this stall. . The Hydro-electric Stall, in the capable hands of Mesdames M. Moynihan, Pickett anti Miss A.Gagliardi, rea great deal of attention. A beautifully-dressed doll proved a good attraction, and all those who saw it were anxious to take ■'tickets. Mesdames Upton and >W. Moyniha* were in charge, the children taking advantage of the ice cream churn. The tug-of-war created great interest., three pulls being got off. The results were as follows:—Curran’s team v. Pig Hunters—A good even pull resulted in a win for Curran’s team. The second pull, Grafters v. Whitanui No. 1, proved an easy win ; fof the Grafters. Carriers v. Moynihan’s team caused a deal of interest, but the Carriers stood the test and gained a victory. They, are expected by many to win the final, which takes place next Thursday. The draw for the supper-cloth was won by Mr T. Reid and Mr H. Howard was successful in winning a nice cushion. The orchestra in charge of Mrs Butler was greatly appreciated.
