ELECTORAL BOUNDARIES.

APPRECIATION OF MR FIELD. The inclusion of Levin by the Electoral Commission in the Manawatu Electoral district is, we learn, not looked upon very favourably by Levin Electors, hold that there is greated community of interest with the towns and district south of Levin borough, and lesser still with portions of the Wairarapa—across the ranges. There is general regret, too, at having to part company with Mr Field, who has served Levin so faithfully and well‘for many years. A Levin ele» tor said to our representative: “I do not altogether agree with Mr Field’s politics, but a more energetic and obliging representative it would be difficult to And among members of Hie House, and in common with many others, I sincerely regret parting company from him.” Foxton, too, is not unmindful of his sterling efforts in connection with justice being done to the local port, and the prominent part he has played in connection with the agitation to link up the Main Trunk line between Marton or Greatford and Levin. Mr Field has willingly co-operated with our member, Mr Newman, in any matter concerning the welfare of this constituency. Foxton, in times past, has been the shuttlecock of the Commissioners, but 'on this ocasion we remain the centre of the constituency, »and the community of interest with, the northern district has not been disturbed. It is only a matter of time when the population between Shannon and Otaki will constitute a new electoral boundary independent of the geographical anomaly, for within that area is true » community of interest. Moutoa, Foxton to Sandon, taking in Rcngotea. Glen Oroua, Rangiotu and Oroua Downs, to the east, is closely allied, 3,nd will ultimately constitute the limits of Manawatu.
