THE W.E.A.
(To the Editor.) Sir,—Mr Murdoch denies moving the hang-up motion re W.E.A. grant. I have only your press report of proceedings to guide me. Mr Murdoch states we did not pay his Council the rent for nine “months. The .account Was paid immediately it was presented. This is not, unlike the Mayor’s method of what he calls good business. Does Mr Murdoch deny that the local Railway Department has, for * the first time, been presented with an account of £23 18s, representing the borough’s sanitary charges on six houses for three yea,rs That is more of Mr Murdoch’s good business. Three years, mark you, and account has just been rendered for the first time. Does Mr Murdoch withhold freight charges pending payment of account by the Railway Department. The W.E.A. rent account reached the writer after the complained-of resolution was passed, and Mr Murdoch’s promise still stands, with a large family of his other pledgees, unfulfilled. Mr \ Murdoch’s silly and impertinent references to me personally I accept, along with his profession of friendship and solicitous literary advice, for what they are worth—nothing.—l am, etc., GREGORY KELLY'.
