WAR TROPHIES AND N.Z. INDUSTRIES.

' Next week will be an important one in the history of Levin, for, as will be seen from an advertisement in this issue, a double event is to be brought off by the local Chamber of Coinerce. First and foremost there is the exhibition of the Government’s splendid .. exhibition of War Trophies, which • has already been viewed with; interest by many thousands of people in the North island. It covers eveiy imaginable object ~ connected with the destructive science of war, from a huge German aeroplane to the smallest hand grenades, and includes a , magnificent series of pictures of war interest. The exhibition has interested crowds /of people in every centre where iv-has been shown, and Levin has been fortunate in securing it for a week before it goes to the South Is-, lai>th‘ A small charge*is made for admission, and special arrangements 'are being made for the school chil- , dren. The exhibition opens 1 on, Mon- • day, and should be well worth ai visit - by local people interested. ' Coincident with the War Trophies i Exhibition,# the Levin Chamber of Commerce has inaugurated a movement which is calculated to* give / practical effect to its belief in the ideal, “New Zealand goods for New Zealapders,” and has to hold a N.Z. Industries Week, which promises to be an event worthy of the laudable objective—local and national patriotism. Therei is hardly any commodity that cannot best be made by British people, and NeAV Zealand is endeavouring to do' its share towards keeping up the reputation of the race at home and abroad. The New Zealand manufacturer may have lacked enterprise in some directions in the past, but he never lacked pride in his creations.' That is why our goods are respected the world over—-as note, for instance,, the unsatisfied demand for New Zealand-made rugs and other woollen goods. This town enjoys the business services of many and varied enterprises, and it is safe do predict that the forthcoming display will come in' the nature of nr revelation as concerning the industrial activities of the Dominion. Commencing on Thursday, 10th inst., the display will continue for a week.
