THE BARBER’S REVENGE.
A “SHORT” HAIR-CUT. A mother recently:' led her' six* year-old daughter into a witness-box at Stratford Police Court, and removed the child’s hat. The Magistrate observed that the little girl’s hair had been so drastically “bobbed” that the : f back of the head up to the level of the ears was shaven'. “On Saturday,” explained the mother, “I sent tlie girl to a hairdresser’s to have her*' hair * ‘bobbed .’ When she returned, I saw that it had not been cut short enough, and told her to go again. ,The barber said: ‘l’ll see it- is short enough.’ You have before you the result, the disfigure- / ment of the child. What can I do?’V The Clerk: You sent the child to have her hair cut* and therefore it ' is not an assault. ' Mr 1 W. W. Green, the chairman: The barber has acted very badly, but lam afraid he has done nothing cri-. , minal. You can go to the County Court and summon him for damage to .. the child; there is no doubt that he did this in temper. The mother: When I spoke to him he grinned. 1 ! , My Green: It is disgracefbl. I must not say here what I should do in the street if I were the father. ,
