FIRST, MEETING OF COUNCIL.
The first meeting of the Council of the newly-fjormed New Zealand Red, Poll Cattle Breeders’ Association was held at the Central Development Farm last eveniiig. In the absence of the president, far James Bruce, vice-presi-dent, took 'the chair, and there were also present: Messrs. Q. Donald (Featherston), A. C. Anderson (Taumartlnui), Forster Pratt (Palmerston North). \V. 3. McCulloch (Weraroa), W. Leaske (Waikato), T.' Beadel (Canterbury), and N. lnder; secretary, ’(Dannevirke). \pologies were received/dor the absence; of Sir l3eaton Rhodes and Messrs J. Harding (' Waipukurau), J. A. Ham ,(Turakina), and H. S. In the meantime the Department advised the continuance of the weighing of the fniik ! production of the co>vk.< The .chairman said he thought that it was desirable that an executive should, he appointed from theN Council to transact important business from time to time, and he moved that the executive consist of Messrs. IL D. McFariane, N. lnder, 3. Harding, W. J. McCulboch and'A. ,C. Anderson. The motion was carried.
The greater portion of the evening was taken up in considering the rules •and' by-laws of the; Association. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs.Bruce, McFariane, Inder, McCulloch and, Heading was appointed to draw up a set of rules. This sub-committee recently met at Dhnnevirke, and as a ' result ol its labours a 'draft copy was laid before the Council last evening. ,This was gone into exhaustively, and numerous alterations and amendments made, and in due course will Jbe submitted for-final adoption. It was decided N tliat the Association be registered as an incorporated society.
Mr In/Jer stated, that he intended to donate £5 5s as first prize for most points in the Red Poll classes at the Danneth ke show. The donor received the thanks of the meeting for his gift.
