A PRESBYTERIAN GATHERING.
WELCOME TO MRS STEWART AND FAMILY. On Friday evening at the Presbyterian Church there was a large gathering of members and friends to meet Mrs Stewart and family, who have just arrived from Scotland. The newcomers all looked well, and seemed to have enjoyed the voyage, and mow that they have come so far, Shannon offered them a friendly welcome. Mr Stewart has already made many friends, and their cordial goodwill is also extended to his wife and family. There was a fine .programme of singing and recitations, and a competition for both children and adults, in which everyone joined, prizes being awarded to the winners. The items by the children, Miss A. Clayton and the little Misses Thurson, were speclr ally appreciated. Mesdames Bovis, Riches and Bishop. Misses Aim. and Jones, and Mr Sullivan, also took part. Mr Campbell, in a very kindly andable address, welcomed the newcoim ers to Shannon as citizens, to the church as workers-, and as the family of the Presbyterian minister. Mr Stewart suitably acknowledged the good wishes on behalf of his wife and family. A splendid supper was provided by the ladies, which was fully appreciated by young and old, as were also the sweets and fruit for the kiddies. A most enjoyable evening was then brought to a close.
