Roxborough came up for sentence before the Acting-Chief Justice (Mr Justice Sim), on a charge of escaping from custody at Paliperston North, and on six (charges of ' breaking and tentering. Prisoner, who was undefended, admitted that he had'been in trouble on several occasions. He was sentenced'to terms of six months’ imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be cumulative. He was declared to be an* habitual criminal. “RUDD’S NEW SELECTION.” It is cldimed that Mr Raymond Longford in “Rudd’s New Selection” has completed a picture for Messrs E. J. and Dan ’ Carroll that quite outshin w all his previous efforts, and even puts “On Our Selection” in the shade. It is said to be chock full of atmosphere and incidents, and a dainty love story is judiciously .interwoven. These wholesome Australian pictures having for their settings the ,great healthy out back have proven immensely popular throughout Australia, and it must be gratifying to everyone concerned to learn that several of them have been accepted by the Hepworth firm- in England and First National in America. Dave’s weeding, his return from his honey-moon, Dad’s experiences at home and at the half-way house, Lil’s ideas on housekeeping, the prohibitionists tea party, the visits , of Dave’s mother-in-law, the twins practical jokes, and the fight between. Sarah and Lil in the kitchen, are delighful episodes logically and vividly introduced in this attraction of the first magnitude. “Rudd’s New Selection” will be shown on Friday next.
