HOROWHENUA RUGBY UNION.

MEETING <OF, COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Management Committee of the Union was held on Tuesday evening. Present:^Messrs. J. W. Procter (chairman), T. Rowlands, R. H. Ford, R. George and V.' Purata wrote thanking the Union for its vote of appreciation on their appointment as referees in matches with the Springboks. , / The New Zealand Rugby Union forwarded its decision In the appeal of the Kuku , clurb against the referee’s decision in the match with Shannon, The appeal by Kuku was dismissed.— Received. The Paraparaumu Club wrote re the insurance monies due one of their members, also that the trophies for the junior championship be forwarded.— Both matters were left in the hands of the chairman. If was resolved that the winners of the Northern Division be presented with Mr Higgins’ cup and the Southern winners with the remaining cup. ■ The Old Boys’ Club asked for the replacement of five jerseys which had been destroyed on the occasion of the North v. South match. If was decided to ask the Old Boys to forward the damaged jerseys, and the Union would then replace them with new ones. Tn the absence of the treasurer, no financial statement was available, but the secretary stated that the insurance fund had this season been drawn oi'i to the SRtent of £79 15s, and that outstanding accounts amounting to about £69 were awaiting payment. Included in the £79 15s were outstanding claims for about £22. The secretary, Mr Higgins, tendered his resignation as he was leaving the district to take up a position in Petone* On the motion of the chairman, the resignation \va£ received with regret. The chairman then presented Mr Higgins with a small token in the form of a silver-mounted pipe in recognition of his services to the Union, the gift being suitably acknowledged by the" recipient.
