TE KAHU TO HANG.
The case of the Maori, Hakaraia Te Kahu, who was convicted at the Supreme Court at Hamilton of the murder of Patrick Eliott at Ongaroto on March 27 and was sentenced to death by Mr Justice Stringer, was considered to-day at a special meeting of the Executive Council presided over by the Governor-General. The decision come to was that the Executive Council, after very fully considering the case, could not see any grounds for interfering in the proper carrying out of the sentence. The Minister of Justice (Mr E. P. Lee) in making the announcement, stated that the condemned man had made a statement before a Stipendiary Magistrate in the Auckland prison to the effect that he had shot Eliott aud afterwards robbed him, but. that the shooting was accidental. yr _ ' v
