CHEAP POWER AND LIGHTING.
WHAT IT COST IN CAMBRIDGE
A good deal ol misrepresentation appeals to be prevalent regarding the cost;Ol electrical energy—lighting and power—and it is reported that many people have been prevented ironi malting installations owing to erroneous impressions as to the cost. Ihe best answer to such fears is to quote actual experiences of those using the light and power. At last Thursday’s meeting' of the Cambridge Power Board Mr W. J. White produced his account with the Power Board for lighting and power for the period of one month and three days, the details being as under:— Lighting, 8s 3d; cooking, £1 Is; iron heating and radiator 4s; total for the period, £1 13s 3d— nett figures in each instance.
Mr White explained that these figures were for a ten-roomed'house. The electric, range was used for all cooking for the home—four persons—including bread making, and an iron and radiator were also used In the house. The charge ol',|ol 13s 3d for a month and three days for all these conveniences is surely a very low one, and goes to show - how economical.the use of electricity really is.
