RECENT ADVANCES MAINTAINED. The High Commissioner's London market report; dated August 20th, gives the following particulars of the butter and cheese markets;— BUTTER. Demand continues fair and recent advances maintained. Very little English available and Irish is in poor request., Danish, firm but quiet. Today’s prices: 268 s per -cwt (2s 4gd per lb); New Zealand first and- second grade, 265 s to 266 s per cwt (2s Aid to 2s 4£d per lb). Government ex store price, 19th to 25th August: New Zea land, 262 s per cwt (2s 4d per !b), CHEESE. • Market quieter. English, supplies Very short. Finest, farmers, 2Cth August, -164 s to 168 s per cwt (is 5# 1 to is 6d per lb). Canadian, white, 134 s to 136 s per cwt (2s 2|d per lb). ; New Zealand, white, 134 s to I?6s pir ewt (Is 2jd per lb), exceptional up; to 138 s per cwt (Is 2d to Is 2£d per lb}. * Australian, white, 120 s to 12*56 ptrcwt (Is Ofd to Is Id per lb); lOlouiferl, ,120 s to 126 s per cwt (Is Ofd to is' Id per lb).
