MILLION POUNDS OF SUTTER.

LEVIN COMPANY’S OUTPUT. During his remarks in moving the adoption of the report and balancesheet at the annual meeting of the Levin Co-operative Dairy Company on Wednesday. Mr S. A., Broadbelt stated that during the year the Company had received 19,204,4601 b of milk, which represented 771,5171 bof butterfat. From home separation, the Company had taken in 228,2371 bof butterfat, making the total butterfat handled 999,7551 b. From this 1,178,161 lb of butter had been manufactured, giving an overrun, of 178,4061 b. The value of the manufacture was roughly £150,000. The price paid per lb for butterfat, 2s 9d, was probably not exceeded by any other factory in New Zealand. Coming to the quality of the butter, the chairman said the Company was in the happy position of grading 94.11, the highest in New Zealand, the next best being the Otaki factory with 94.02, but Otaki only manufactured butter during the flush of the season, when the milk was not required at Wellington. The average grade for the Wellington province was 90.88, so that the Levin Company was well ahead of the average. “What I consider is one of the best achievements of the Company,” said the chairman, “is the win of the Shaw Seville CUp at the Palmerston: North show, when a box of butter was taken at random from the company’s export stock, and secured the first prifce.” (Applause-) Referring to the milk received, the chairman quoted the following table, showing the intake at the main factory and the various creameries:— 1
