SHANNON GOLF CLUB.
Members ol the Shannon Golf Club visited Levin on Saturday last to try conclusions for the first time with that club. With the exception of . casual water here and there, as a result of recent floods, the links were in good playing condition. Quite a number of local players also went down to witness the game. The Shannon Club managed to snatch a victory by the narrow margin of one match, after some very close, interesting games. Following . are the results, Levin „ players being mentioned first:— Miss Beckett beat Mrs Johnson, 4 up and 3 to play. Miss Kimbell lost to Mrs Saxon, 2 and 1. Miss Tully lost to’ Miss G. Goodwin, 3 and 1. „Mrs Rockel beat Miss E.. Goodwin, 5 and 4. ' Biss lost to'Logan, 5 and 3. Porter lost to Anderson, 4 and 3. Rocltel lost to Murphy, 1 up. Bould beat Dr. Evans, 5 and 3. France lost to Johnson, 4 and 2. Park beat Kelly, 1 up. Kilsby beat Rev. Abbott, 2 and I. Adams lost to Saxon, -7 and 5.. Pollock halved with King.. The team were lavish!v entertained by the Levin ladies, and quite an enjoyable afternoon was spent.
A return match will most probably be pfayed next month on the Shan--non links.
