FOOTBALL.
At Thursday’s meeting of the Rugby Union, the secretary’ stated that Messrs. Parker, and Nicolson, of Otaki, had waited on him for the purpose of explaining the position in regard to the trophy given by residents of Otaki. It was a challenge cup, andut was desired that, in order to encourage football there, that all games be played in Otaki. It was considered that this would, be impracticable for a challenge cup, which was usually played for on the ground of the holders. The meeting was in favour of helping the Otaki movement to improve football, and suggested that an, annual competition be held for the Cup on trie "sudden death” principle. This would occupy at least three Saturdays in each year at Otaki. It was resolved to endeavour 1o arrange a junior rep. game with Manawatu to be played at Otaki. A suggestion was made that a North and South junior match be arranged at Otaki.
