IN OPTIMISTIC MOOD.
CONDITIONS IN ENGLAND ARE IMPROVING. Kingston, May 20. Sir Samuel Stuart, editor of the London Daily Mail and' managing director and vice-chairman of the London Times, addressing a banquet given in his honour, spoke hopefully of Britain’s future. Conditions in England w r ere. improving he said, and. trade would not only regain" its former status, but be greater than ever. England 'would not “muddle through,” he asserted, but would get through very well indeed. Sir. Samuel put the power of the world’s press on an equality with the League of Nations in promoting' harmonious international relations, and claimed that the future .-welfare of the wmrld, to a great extent,‘lay in thecomplete understanding of the Eng-lish-speaking press.
