— v MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.
A meeting ol the Management Cotnmiuee of the Horowhenua Rugby uiuoii was held last evening, Mr J. >v. Procter presiding. Tne iVJanawatu Union wrote suggesting that me try-out iiiatcn to pick the team 10 play the Springboks be played on Saturday, August 13, at Palmers ton North, in view of the big match being fixed for the following Wednesday. It was decided, on Mr Whibley’s motion, to ask that the game be played on Wednesday, August 10, in order that the club fixtures be not interfered with. The Manawatu Union also asked that the boundaries between the Unions be altered so that the general line run from Sorenson’s store on the Bainesse road corner west, to the sea coast, and east to the Manawatu River. It was pointed out by Mr Whibiey that diis would cut out about- ten senior players from this Union, and it was decided that this Union object to any alteration in the boundaries. The Foxton Club asked to be allowed to play as a junior Rang-i Almira, the well known Te Aute senior player, during his school vacation—The request was declined. The Wanderers Junior Club entered a protest against Weraroa’s win on Inly 18 on the grounds: (1) That Wt raroa played a- senior player, J. Rhodes: (2) that they played G. Lester, who was a member of the Wanderers Club; (3) that R. Collier, another player. was a senior player of the Web lington Rugby Union; (4) that one Weraroa player did not play in the registered colours of his club—Consideration of the protest - was held over for further inquiries. Wanderers’ application to reinstate B. Heremaia as a junior was declined. The Otaki Football Club wrote plaining tint circumstances under which one of their honorary members played as an emergency for the Old Boys in their match with Waikanae The explanation waSl considered as satisfactory. C. J. Batten’s application for transfer from Old Boys to Otaki was declined in view of the fact that the latter club had refused a clearance. A Wanderers’ junior player, McKenfie, who was ordered off by the referee in the Wanderers-W.e raroa natch, waited on the Union io protest against the decision. After hearing .its version of me affair and discussmg the matter, it was unanimously decided to uphold the referees’ action to suspend the player for three months. A statement of the finances showed drat to date approximately £2OO liad ,jeen received from all sources, inelud.ng £6O from insurances. The chairman reported that he had interviewed Mr V. Higgins, who had consented to act as secretary to the Union for the remainder of the season, vice Mr W. Weliipeihana'. Mr Higgins was unanimously appointed to the position, and on the chairman’s .notion a vote of appreciation was passed to Mr Weliipeihana for his . a'hiabie and efficient services, and he was, granted a bonus, of £5. Mr Welipeihana suitably replied.
