The defendants had claimed that they Avere absoHed from liability because in each case they had gh-en notice of their resignation from the association six months previously. But at the time of the expiration of the six months’ notice of resignation they had riot paid the amounts of subscriptions and percentages due as at the date of such expiration. I't was stated to the Magistrate that counsel for the defendants had now advised the defendants that such moneys not having .been paid, their resignations became ineffective. The cases were therefore adjourned in order that the amounts claimed in each case might be paid. The well-knoAvn Palmerston rider, H. B. Lorrigan, who was rather badly injured by the-falling of Multive at Auckland, was operated on ‘in a private hospital at Northcote on Wednesday, and is progressing as favaurably as can be expected.
