STEADILY INCREASING. Some interesting figures showing how the Public Debt has increased since 1914 were submitted to the annual meeting of the shareholders of the Bank of New Zealand by Mr H. The debt now must he over £200,000,000. During the past financial year £7,831,593 was paid in respect 1o interest and sinking fund, as compared with £2,871,512 charged in the year J913-J4. There was paid in pensions during the past .financial year £2,812,750, as against £2,691,444 in the previous year.
