COURT SITTINGS FOR SHANNON.

MATTER BEFORE MINISTER OF JUSTICE. ' During the recent visit to Shannon of Mr E. Newman, M.P., the Mayor (Mr W. Murdoch) drew his attention to the progress of the town and the need that existed for sittings of the Magistrate’s Court, It was pointed out that under existing conditions Shannon magisterial business had to be taken to Palmerston North or Levin, which meant considerable inconvenience and expense to the parties concerned. The town was growing and an increasing volume of business had to be dealt with. Mr Newman promised to forward the representations made to the Minister for Justice, who has now written the Mayor stating that he would endeavour, if possible, to give the request his favourable consideration.
