Accident.
WOODVILLR, Maboh 1.
Fred Holder, son of Mr H. J. Holder, met with a shocking accident last night through riding into a dray in the dark. His intestines are penetrated and his condition is critical.

A private cable announces the deAh in England of Sir Charles Clifford, the first speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives, aged 79. His eon is at present on his way to England Deceased was one of the oldest settlers, having arrived in 1845. Customs Revenue.
The Customs revenue for February was £163,072, as against £127.248 f.p the preceding month and £164,846 for the corresponding m «ntb last year. Auckland con* tribute! £37.376 ; Wellington, £3l 990 ; Lyttelton and Christ church, £29.873 j Dunedin, £3B 746. For the eleven months ending yesterday the total revenue collected in the colony was £1,500,307. which exceeds the Treasurer’s estimate for that period by £56.557. The beer duty last month was £5 038 } for the preceding month £5,066 and for February 1892 £5 145. Auckland paid £1,089 ; Wellington, £534 ; Christchurch, £873 j Dunedin, £1,209 For the eleven months tax paid was £53,847 ; exceeding the estimate for that period by £6BO (shillings and pence are omitted). Po'it cal DUNEDIN, Maboh 1. Mr Millar contests Port Chalmers and Mr Hutchison the city against all comers. Mr Hu'chieon received a vote of confidence last night. The meeting passed a vote of confidence in the Ministry. Technical Classes. At the annual meeting of the Technical Classes Association it was stated that several 'students were enabled through their medium to pass the matriculation examination.
