NEW ZEALAND AT HOME.

(By Telegraph.)

WELLINGTON, Feb. 28.

Sir W. Bailor takes with him in the Coptic some very valuable and interesting collections for the Imperial Institute, besides Sir Walter’s own Maori antiquities, etc. Mr Seddon has obtained a fine collection of timber, building stones, and marbles shown by the Public Works Department at the Dunedin 3L"'ibition, and afterwards banded to the Dunedin Museum. Many specimens are in duplicate, and the selection made is fully representative. The Railway Commissioners have handed over a collection of timber made for Chicago, and an excellent series of photographs. They also give free railage to any other collections. Samples of Middle Island coal have been promised, but the Kawakawa will be the only one ready to go in the Coptic. Mr John Roberts has undertaken to collect a proper wool exhibit from the next clip, and Turnbull and Co. to do the same for flax. The latter will be ready for the opening. Mr Seddon will collect mineral exhibits later on ; the Canterbury Museum send a splendid moa skeleton similar to the one Mr Von Haast valued at £IOOO,- Mr Mitchelson has promised a collection of hauti gum. The shipping companies charge half freights only. Altogether the New Zealand Court will not be badly represented at the opening, and by the time that all collections are in placs they must be an attractive sight. The Premier has cablsd that all space would be used.
