The Standard, in an article on the political situation, accuses the leader of the Opposition of mismanagement and carelessness at the General Election. It farther states they wasted opportunities, and by ill-conceived tactics have allowed the Government to gain ground both in the House and the country.
THE CONGO.
Brussels, Feb. 27.
News has been received from the Congo States that the Belgian expedition under Dhaniflh, sent to punish Arabs for the massacre of Major Hodister’e expedition, have defeated the Arabs at Tomani, and that 500 prisoners were taken, including six chiefs,, and 600 rifles secured.
Zanzibar. Jan. 27.
Expeditions under Captains Jacques and Delcommes, which it was feared wgre massacred, have arrived safely at Lake Tanganyika. They had a hot engagement with the Arabs at Yambuza, in which a Belgian resident and his assistants were killed, but the Arabs were routed.
