The importation of arms into Ireland has been prohibited,' except under special conditions. MALAYS AT THE CAPE. The Queen has refused to grant the petition o! the Malay population at Cape Colony, asking her to veto the Franchise Act. ' A CLEAN FAILURE. A trustees committee of inspection has been appointed in the estate of the late Philip Yanderbyl. The present liability amounts to £87,700 and the assets to £3OO.
GERMAN MAILS. Berlin, Feb. 26. A Bill revising the German mail services to Australia has been referred to the Budget Committee. - THE SLAVE TRADE. Zanzibar, Jan. 26. Arab slavers are raiding the district north of Lake of Nyanza. They captured the inhabitants of a native village, butchered the men, and carried off 200 women and children, whom they afterwards speared when pursued by a force of white men. ABETTING A MURDER. Washington, Feb. 26. Boner and Knoll have been tentenced to five years’ imprsionment for abetting the attempt on the life of Mr Frick, manager at the Homestead Works.
