This morning’s weather bulletins (for 5) a.m.), reported the wind northerly from Eussell to Wanganui and Cashpoint, southerly south of those points ; except N.»- at Dunedin, and light or merely fresh breezes every where. It was generally fine, hut a belt of overcast sky was reported between Wanganui and Oastlepoint north to Timaru south ; rain at Christchurch and Lyttelton with a fresh S.W. breeze. A heavy swell at eea wob reported from Castlepoint and Kaikoura ; here a moderate swell has been running ail day. The Besident Magistrate this morning (greeted a prohibition order to issue respecting a labourer named Kichard Hunt, applicable in the Timaru district for twelve months* Hunt was brought to Court by summonses to answer charges of assaulting and neglecting tn provide for his wife, but on the wife’s solicitations these were allowed to be withdrawn, and the application for a prohibition order ' substituted.
