Bennell, late manager of the Paddington branch of the English and Scottish Chartered Bank, who was convicted of the embezzlement of large sums of money belonging to the institution, was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment. THE NEW GOVERNOR. Sir G. R. Dibbs has expressed himself oatiafied with the appointment of the Hon. Robert Duff, as Governor of New South Wales. Sir Saul Samuel cables that he is well qualified for the position.
