(By Teleqeaph.) AUCKLAND, Feb, 23. The annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held to-day, when the president, Mr Adam Porter, delivered a long address, in the coarse of which bo said that the volume of business in Auckland had during the past year been larger and sounder than for a lon£ time. Money was plentiful for ail legitimate enterprise. There was more money in the colony than the demands of trade end commerce appeared to be able to absorb. The returns showed that a greater number of people were making homes in the a urkiand district than in any other part of the colony, while in imports Auckland was the first port in the colony, and was not far behind in esporls. He spoke with approval of the completion of the liotorua Hail way. lie regretted that no attempt had been made to teat tbs deep level roofs on the Thames go'ufield, and mentioned the necessity for settling the native lands.
