In store cattle there was only a very small entry of young stock and no sales of importance, but. the dairy cow 'pens’ were well filled. The demand for this class continued firm and exceptionally good . prices were again realised for the best sorts* of springers. PIGS. The entry was medium and the lota were all • sleared at an advance on late quotations. SHEEP. There was a large entry of stores but the demand especially towards the close was not quite so animated as of late. Crossbred lambs sold at from 9s to 10s lOd, forward 2-tootVcrossbrod ewes 12s 7d to 13s. In fatlambs the entry was smaller than for several weeks past, and the demand was not so keen owing to both factories being filled. Hence there was a slight shrinkage in values. The highest price recorded was 13s 9d. Fat sheep, a large proportion being medium’ merinos with a sprinkling of heavy crossbred ewes and prime crossbred wethers, remained firm at recent values np to 17s sd; many very prime wethers being sold from IGs to that price. Owing to the full factories lines of . wethers and maiden ewes were duller than recently, and there was a decline in consequence.

BURNSIDE MARKETS. DUNEDIN. February 15. CATTLE. 188 head were yarded, the majority bullocks ranging from good to prime with one or two pins of light weights. Heifers were also .above the average quality. All the pens offered were disposed of. Best bullocks at £8 10a Gd to £lO 2a 6d, medium £6 10s to .£B, light .£5 10s to <£6 ss, best cows £6 to £7 2s Gd, others £4 to £5 15s. SHEEP. The entry consisted of 1377 crossbreds and 200 merino wethers. Prices were fully Gd better than last week. Beat crossbred wethers 14s 6d to 15s Gd, medium 12s to 13s 6d, best ewes 13s Gd to 11s Gd, medium 11s Gd to 13s, merino wethers best 10s to 10s 3d. In fat lambs 650 wore penned, and the demand was very slack. Best 10s 9d to 12s, medium 8s 9d to lOs, inferior difficult to dispose of at Gs to Bs. GRAIN. Wheat—The supply on hand is far ip. excess of requirements and with new graip so, near at hand buyers are unwilling to operate to any extent except at prices in their favour. Prime milling is not too plentiful bat sufficient to meet demand. The tendency is still towards lower prices. Quotations are for best milling Ss' 7d to 2s fid, prime 3a. medium to good 2s 3d to 2a Gd, inferior and good whole fowls' wheat 2s to 2s 3d, broken Is Gd to Is lOd (ex store, sacks weighed in; terms). Oats—'The market displays a slightly firmer tone and all ocming forward are easily placed. Prime bright feed and stout hava a Tory good demand.
