(By Telegraph.) WELLINGTON. Fee. 10. The following officers in the Lands Department are to be retired on the 28th init.: Eugene Bellairs, D. Poster, and J. S. Wilson, draughtsmen; in the Wellington office ; W. L. Buseko and B. fl. Featon, draughtsmen in the Gisborne office, and 0, H. J. Hill, drown Lands ranger in Auckland. Each will receive as compensation one | month’s pay for ever, year bo has been in the } Government service since the abolition of the j provinces. | A deputation from tbs. The Minister inspected the line with Mr Hales. Mr Seddon considered tbe extra expense involved would be too great to warrant the deviation, and in reply to a request that work should tie commenced Woodville, said that no object was to be by that till the heavier works were On it being suggested that money to complete', the line, Mr the Government were policy.
