PRIMMER V. STEWART.
[to the editoe,] Sib,—.fie the report of civil case, Primmer v. Stewart, in your paper of the Bth instant, 1 find it. stated that I had given a guarantee for the costs of previous action, also for pa->t of the costs of this action. I wish to give this statement a most unqualified denial. No such guarantee was giveo by me, or could be implied. Plaintiff’s solicitor wired me, asking if I would pay £2O towards his cots, but not being aware at tbe moment of the balance standing to Trimmer's credit on account of labour, &0., I declined to pledge myself to pay any amount, but expressed myself as willing to pay over whatever I was owing Primmer, to his order. This I look upon as a matter of business, certainly in nowise partisan. I am, &c, John G, Restell. Ashburton, February Bth, 1893.
