Wheat—There is; nothing that might be in any way-considered favourable to record in regard to the tone of the market since last ,* Locally, nothing is, doing of any consequence. Buyers for local consumption are working off old'stocks.in'order to make , roonv fbrthe new greiu> and are only, purchasing odd lots for mixing. Harvesting has been hardly started yet in the south, and up to the present we have not seen any samples of new wheat, but the prevailing idea is that present quotations will not be maintained when the season’s crop is available. Late quotations ore stUl applicable, say, for best milling 2s 7d to 2s"9d,'extra prime and free from sprout 3s, medium to good 2s 3d to 2s fid, inferior and whole fowls’wheat 2s to 2s 3d, broken Is fid to Is lOd (ex store, sacks weighed in; terms). Oats—No animation of any consequence is apparent in the tone of the market. At the same time there is no lack of buyers, and all offered are freely taken up, although at prices shoving a* slight decline on those lately obtaining. Now arrivals are hardly sufficient for requirements, but holders of lots in store, despairing of better prices being secured, now seem to quit at the beat prices obtainable; which* has somewhat tended to weaken the market and slightly "reduce prices. Prime milling Is 9d to Is 9}d, best short feed bright and plump, la Bid.to Is 9d, medium to yood Is 7sd to Is BJd, inferior Is fid to Is 7d (ex store, sacks extra; net). . Barley—No sales are effected, owing to the market ‘being entirely cleaned out. Nothing ■ ’ will be done till the new crop comes to hand. By all accounts the quantity to come forward is limited, Quotations are nominal.'
