In the Legislative Assembly to-night the Premier announced the intention of the Government to carry on business in the House; and claimed the support of those who thought more of their country than of their party. Mr H. Reid said that the Government had become so utterly disgraced that they had no claim to support. Mr Wilkinson gave notice to move “that under present circumstances an appeal to the country is desirable.” RE-ELECTED. Melbourne, Feb. 7. Mr J. B, Patterson, the Premier, was re-elected by a large majority.

At the monthly meeting of the Tailorewe#* Union to-night, a resolution was adopted, calling upon the Government and legislature to pass into law at an early stage of next session a Conciliation Bill, providing for the enforcing of awards, so that working women, when oppressed in the manner recently brought to light at Auckland, might have legal means of redress. Miss Morrison, the secretary, was heartily thanked for the conduct of her mission to Auckland.
