An Anti-Vaccinationist,

falvation Colonel Alexander Fiool, who accompanied General Booth on bis trip half round the world, besides being a Salvationist, is a fervent unbeliever in vaccination, and has been getting into trouble because of hie convictions on the subject. Fined recently for not having his child duly operated on, the Colonel declined to pay up, and was baled before tbe courts to show cause why be should not go to gaol. A distress warrant bad, it appeared, been levied ; but the gallant 0 >lonel possessed nulla bona save the clothes be stood in. Mr Bodkin (magistrate) said sentence bad been postponed in the hope that the foolish men would be induced to listen to reason. Had the child been vaccinated ? The prisoner replied, “ Certainly not. Moreover the fine had not and would not be paid ” Mr Bodkin observed that tbe gallant Colonel mmt go to gaol for a week unless the fine were paid within seven days. Colonel Nicol thereupon intimated that he would deliver himself at Holloway Castle next Monday. Prison will be no novelty to Mr Nicol, as (like most leading Salvationists, barring the Booth family) he was a few years sgo frequently sent to durance vile for refusing to pay fines. Colonel Nicol hopes, by attracting attention to his case, to have the law which punishes anti-vaccinators modified.
